What to Bring With You

These lists should only be used as a guide.
If you are being admitted as an in-patient (staying at least one night in hospital):

Any medicines or tablets you are taking (in their original boxes or containers),including homeopathic medicines, vitamins and herbal remedies so staff know what you are taking

Any relevant x-rays still in your possession

Pyjamas or a nightdress

Dressing gown and slippers

Daywear – tracksuit or comfortable clothes

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Soap and deodorant
-
Hairbrush or comb and small mirror

Shaving equipment (if appropriate)

Sanitary products such as tampons (if appropriate)

A book or magazines
-
Spectacles and hearing-aid batteries, if you need them

Small change for newspapers or the bedside TV and phone

Underwear
-
Bath towel, flannel or sponge and wet-wipes

Tissues
-
Bottle of squash (if wanted)

Any walking aids you may already have (frame, stick, crutches) if you need them
If you are being admitted as a day-case procedure (going home after surgery on the same day):
-
Any drugs and medicines you are currently taking in their original container

Any relevant x-rays still in your possession

Nightwear and personal toiletries are optional although slippers are advised
Please don’t bring:

Large amounts of money or credit cards

Valuables such as jewellery

A TV or radio
-
Alcohol
-
A hairdryer
